Hi, I’m Heather Ramos!

I make art using a bunch of different mediums! See below for examples of my work and details about what I am working on in each medium.

It’s me, Heather Ramos! I currently live in Utah, where I love driving through the mountains and exploring nature with my family between art projects.

More About My Embroidery…

I love the Bible and I love typography. Many of my embroidery designs have been based on these things. I also love embroidering quotes from of my favorite books!

Graphic Design Work…

My husband and best friend, Chris, is a band director and he and I have been collaborating on concert posters for years. He likes making themed wind symphony concerts and I make coordinating posters! It’s such a joy!

Ah…Crochet…

Blankets, man. I know they are intimidating for some but I find them so incredibly fun to make and so cozy. I like playing with color palettes and stitches to create unique and especially functional, warm blankets, mostly as gifts because y’all, yarn is expensive, and if you added up the hours and cost of yarn, my blankets would never sell, even at cheapest prices. But each one is handmade, start to finish, one stitch at a time. I do occasionally play around with amigurumi, hats, and have dreams of creating patterns for cardigans and sweaters. Maybe someday! For now, crochet mostly keeps my hands busy and keeps my toes warm.

Book Design & Illustration…

I just finished a project for Seattle Historical Arts for Kids designing the interior for their recorder learner book Recorder from the Ground Up, Vol 1 by Miyo Aoki. It was an absolute joy and I cannot wait for my next book design project. It’s my current favorite work to do as I can do it in tiny spurts of time between homeschooling my kids and it feels so fulfilling!

My Painting Journey…

Did I mention that typography is one of my passions? Acrylic painting is one of the mediums I was trained in when I was in art school. Today, I combine imagery and symbols from the 1600s-1800s with context from today. I also utilize Bible verses and quotes from Christian sources to create posters and paintings. The painting seen here is the word “Dayenu” which is Hebrew for, “it would have been enough.” It is a deeply meaningful concept, especially for the Passover Seder.

I also teach art locally…

I teach K-12 art classes in Highland, UT! I use the ARTistic Pursuits curriculum, along with my own knowledge and experience, giving students techniques and tools to be able to make their own original artwork and improve their artistic abilities immediately. Students use professional materials and make personal artworks weekly, creating unique and original work based on their personal lived experiences. Reach out if you’re interested in getting your child involved in one of my classes! I keep classes small so that each student can have a great experience, and I can accept payment from most homeschool scholarship programs in Utah!
